The place
Sanare, in the municipality of Andrés Eloy Blanco, lies on the mountains that link the Andes with the coastal range. Farms border Yacambú National Park and reach some of the highest coffee altitudes in central-western Venezuela, roughly 1,000 to 1,800 metres.

Farms and process
Small family farms pick by hand and mostly wash their coffee, drying it on patios or under marquesinas. Lara coffee historically moved through the dry port of Barquisimeto; today our Sanare lots are prepared at Acarigua.
In the cup
Lots from the Sanare slopes typically show soft chocolate, toasted nut and light floral notes, with medium, silky body, delicate citrus acidity and a sweet, persistent finish.
Varieties grown in Sanare
Container lots are field blends of several cultivars. In Sanare the main ones are: Typica, Bourbon, Caturra, Catuaí, Castillo, Colombia 27, Catimor, INIA 01, Araguaney, Monteclaro. See our guide to Venezuelan coffee varieties.
